Who needs beer?....ME

So I didn't do the urban spoon roulette last night. I did have hot dogs (grilled) and lipton chicken flavored rice. It was a quick and easy dinner. Maybe I'll urban spoon it up next week.

I wonder if he had a case of Mt. Dew in the back? or maybe Surge?

I've been really listening to some different music. It's still DIY type stuff, but less just loud and fast.

Reverend Peyton's Bid Damn Band released a new CD this week and it is their best yet. I supposed I have a soft spot for bluegrass. This band formed (and grew up) in the same geographical region that I am from. I got to see them play live when I was on my Portland adventure. I can honetly say if you enjoy them on CD/record/Mp3/tape (whatever your weapon of choice) you will LOVE them even more live.

Clap your hands

Another, relatively, recent discovery of mine is Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains/Wingnut Dishwasher's Union. The guy who heads these up is in a year long rehab program right now and won't be out until december. I think this is some of the most inspired anarcho-acoustic-punk that exists. I strongly recommend you listen to it. Don't focus on his out of tune singing, as a matter of fact learn the lyrics and sing along, that is where the quality in this music lies. Think of this as poetry with a bit of background music.

New Mexico Song

I found a class for writting two minute plays. I think I'm going to sign up, it's on Saturdays for 8 weeks and will end in a student produced production. It's sounds like tons of fun and will probably results in some shenanigins.

Business Cred...

You know what makes you lose your tough guy business cred? Shorts with lobsters on them. I was at starbucks this morning and there was a guy talking some tough business on his cell phone wearing white shorts with little blue lobsers on them. He could only do business this way, if anybody was in his presence they would have laughed at him.

Here are the offending shorts, if you look very closely you will also notice they are cut offs....

My latest project is infused vodka. I've got a bottle of kiwi and a bottle of mango vodka stewing in my window sill. The tasting after 24 hours of infusion provided some pretty unremarkable results, but I won't give up until it works. I took lots of pictures so when I get to a staisfactory point I'll post up a how to on the subject (as if it's never been done before). After the vodka I may try to move on to gin or bourbon, just to see how it works.

I've also been thinking a lot about distillation and how cooling rates and boiling temperatures might affect the quality and smoothness of the alcohol. May have to start looking at a fisher sci catalog to make a stil.

The natural food project isn't forgotten it's just on hold until I get a bit more organized. I'd like to wait a bit until more veggies come in to season. I think being able to buy stuff at a farmers market or getting it shipped from home would be the best options.

Probably going to start up Urban Spoon roulette Thursdays again. It was something I was trying to do before I had my Portland adventure, so now that I'm back settled in the consumerist heartland, I'd like to start this again. So maybe Friday resturant reviews from now on, who knows?

Bloggin' Again

So I haven't written a good blog in several years. I found it pretty fun back when I did it, but due to forces out of my control I ended up going away from sharing my thoughts with everyone. I'm back and I guess the main purpose of this is to keep track of my food expirement over the next few weeks.

The Expirement

Starting in a couple of weeks I'm going to only eat foods that I have created from raw ingredients. What this means is I can only use basic stuff to make meals, i.e. fresh veggies, raw meats, spices, milk, eggs, butter, and probably gonna allow bullion too. I'm also going to use already processed flours/cornmeal, I don't have a grinding stone and these things were commercially avaliable before the processed food craze. I want to take a little bit of time to research recipies so I can be a little more effiecent. I plan to post all my meals and recipies up here and keep track of my thoughs during this time.

What started my thinking about this was my trip to the grocery store last night. I was standing behind a woman who had purchased nothing but processed foods. They where almost all low fat, low calorie, or weight watchers. She had no raw veggies, no lean unprocessed meats, nothing that seemed like a better way to weight loss. I'm not so concerned with the weight loss aspect of this (although I have begun running and lifting again) as I am interested in how difficult it will be and will I be religated to eating raw veggies out of lazainess.

I know I don't harder things in my life, but I think this will be a fun challenge. I'm going to do a bit more planning, I really don't want to miss dinner with friends or family(if they invite), but maybe I should spin it and cook for them.

Anyway back to work,

Lee
